Ministry of Music

Role of Music

Music is used in Worship Services and other appropriate meetings for a number of purposes, sometimes to praise and exalt God, sometimes to calm us and help bring us to a point of prayer or meditation, sometimes to teach and convey a biblical or spiritual message. Music is a language in itself which can convey idea, thought or emotion without words. It can emphasise or link important parts of a worship gathering.

We use different musical styles from Contemporary Rock, Ballad, Traditional Hymn, Taize Chant, new age mood and meditation music or abstract sound, whatever fits with whatever we are doing at any particular time. We also recognise that silence is also sometimes needed, and also that not everyone can hear.

Aims of our Music Team

We strive to improve your worship experience and cover everyone's needs as best we can.

We have a very small team at present who work hard behind the scenes to select what we use in our services. If you know of a particular piece of music that helps your worship space and you feel it may also be positive for others then please let us know, we may be able to include it.

If you can sing or play a musical instrument and would like to help to participate in services or other events then please talk to Neil. We run Saturday Jam sessions at points in the year, where we can get a handful of musicians together and experiment in a relaxed an informal way, with a view to developing a bank of people who can take it in turns and either lead or accompany and make our worship more inspiring.
